Abstract
A series of metal complexes were prepared and characterized with a new azo ligand were derived from 4-amino-N-(5-methylisoxazol-3-yl)benzene sulfonamide and 3-(4-methyl)-1H-imidazole-1-yl)-5-trifluoromethyl)aniline. Ligand structure and its transitional metal complexes were analyzed by molar conductance, elemental analysis (C.H.N), electronic spectral, magnetic measurements, 1H-NMR, FTIR, and mass spectra. The composition of these complexes is as follows: [M(L)2Cl2], where M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II), and [MLCl2]Cl for M = Au(III). The data indicate that the complexes adopt an octahedral structure, except for the Au(III) complex, which adopts a square-planar geometry. The FTIR data show that the furthest azo nitrogen atom and the imidazole nitrogen atom serve as the coordination sites. Azo ligand acts in a bidentate manner. The Au(III) and Cu(II) complexes demonstrated the ability to scavenge DPPH radicals. Overall, the findings demonstrated the potential and promise of the two complexes as antioxidants. Without harming healthy cells, Au-complex exerts a very potent anticancer effect on breast cancer cells. The present investigation employs a comprehensive molecular docking analysis to assess the binding energies of anticancer drugs, thereby elucidating their binding affinity towards the receptor. This indicates that the gold complex has a strong affinity for the protein kinase (1HK7).
