Abstract Background: Eligibility criteria are the operational definition of a clinical trial's study population, and the growing effort to match patients to trials automatically rests on an unstated assumption, that a criterion set can be read as a flat conjunction of independent requirements. How often criteria instead express logical disjunction has not been measured at the scale of the registry.
