Abstract
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is commonly diagnosed in patients with metastatic breast cancer (mBC). Poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase inhibitors (PARPi) improve outcomes in BRCA-mutated mBC by blocking DNA-repair mechanisms. Preclinical studies suggest that PARPi may also benefit MASLD by reducing PARP1-mediated oxidative stress. Their efficacy in humans remains unproven. This case describes an improvement in transaminases levels following PARPi treatment, which may warrant further investigation of their potential metabolic effect in patients with hepatic steatosis.
