Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D Status and Its Association with Clinical Characteristics and Coronary Angiographic Findings in Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography
By Vijaya Kumar Ghanta.
Abstract
Background
The relationship between circulating 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] and coronary artery disease (CAD) remains uncertain. This study assessed serum 25(OH)D concentrations and their distribution across demographic, clinical, lifestyle, therapeutic, and angiographic variables.
Methods
A prospective observational study was conducted from April to September 2023 at Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation, Andhra Pradesh, India. Forty-seven consecutive patients undergoing evaluation for suspected or established CAD with coronary angiography were enrolled. Serum 25(OH)D was categorized as ≥30, 20–<30, 10–<20, and <10 ng/mL. Categorical associations were assessed using the Fisher–Freeman–Halton exact test; Kruskal–Wallis, Mann–Whitney U, and Welch’s t-tests were used as appropriate.
