Low-grade Appendiceal Mucinous Neoplasm in a Recurrent Incarcerated Amyand Hernia with Preoperative Sonographic Diagnosis
By Mathai Jolhf Koshy and Shyjumon George.
Abstract
Abstract This rare case illustrates a unique combination of three pathological processes – a recurrent incarcerated inguinal hernia, an Amyand hernia, and an appendiceal pathology. We describe a patient who presented with an incarcerated recurrent inguinal hernia with an appendiceal neoplasm as content. The patient was diagnosed preoperatively and successfully managed at a rural mission hospital and has been followed up 4 years after the procedure. Important considerations in surgical decision-making are discussed.
