By Fatma Magdi Ibrahim, Ghada Shahrour and Khaled Elbarbary.
Abstract
Background
Psychological frailty may describe reduced capacity to adapt to stress in later life, but definitions vary and its added clinical value is unknown.
Methods
We conducted a critical narrative review of MEDLINE via PubMed (1 January 2015 to 29 August 2026), citation chains, and selected guidance. The original core query returned 114 records; the focused reconciliation added construct-specific reports. Forty-nine sources inform this synthesis.
