Sex and weighting in abbreviated DASI-based perioperative risk prediction
By Kwok Ming Ho, Bernhard Riedel, Jonas Alfitian and 2 others.
Abstract
We congratulate Wijeysundera and colleagues1 for this rigorous pooled analysis refining perioperative functional capacity assessment. Their findings show that the 12-item Duke Activity Status Index (DASI) provides modest incremental prognostic value and is best applied as a continuous, context-dependent measure rather than a binary threshold.
