Nederlands tijdschrift voor geneeskunde
Authors are accountable, even for radiologic illustrations in their articles
Abstract
Recently the editors of this journal had a number of complaints from radiologists regarding the radiologic illustrations and the accompanying explanatory drawings printed in the journal. It is emphasized that authors are accountable for all the material in their articles, including the radiologic pictures and explanatory drawings. From now on authors will be asked to include sketches or overlays with their radiology pictures indicating the particular changes and general structures for the readers' orientation. This will facilitate peer review and the production of the explanatory drawings. If the authors seek advice from a radiologist, his or her contribution may be disclosed in an acknowledgement.
