Encefalopatía pancreática, a propósito de un caso
By Donaldo Pautt Caraballo.
Abstract
Introduction
acute pancreatitis is a highly prevalent entity but its management and complications are very diverse. Among the less frequent complications we have pancreatic encephalopathy, which is the interaction of inflammatory molecules released with brain tissue. The onset can be at any point in the disease and there is currently no treatment. Its presentation would indicate an ominous state. Clinical Case: case of a patient with no significant history who presents poor pain control due to acute pancreatitis and subsequently presents multiple organ failure and neurological deterioration characterized by episodes of tonic-clonic seizure for which he begins ventilatory support, vasopressor, multiple admissions for abdominal surgical exploration with a fatal outcome.
Conclusion
pancreatic encephalopathy as a complication of acute pancreatitis has a poorly understood relevance since it does not have a clear treatment and has a poor prognosis.
