Motivate rather than medicate – a clinical audit of the focused approach to behavioural management for paediatric enuresis
By IL Balon-Rotheram and P Dewan.
Abstract
Purpose
The study aimed to investigate the success of the focused use of behavioural management in children with a correct diagnosis of monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (MNE), and the role of treatment compliance in therapeutic outcomes at a private, single-practitioner paediatric clinic. MNE is a common childhood issue treated with a variety of interventions. At the study clinic in Melbourne, Australia, we focus on engendering a “can-do” attitude, utilising strategies that include the clinician’s recognition and response to the child’s body language.
