Abstract
Emergency conditions in dental practice represent an important clinical problem, since progression of inflammatory diseases of the teeth and maxillofacial tissues can lead to pronounced pain syndrome, spread of infection, bleeding, and impairment of vital functions. The aim of the study was to systematize modern approaches to the prevention of dental emergency conditions, early diagnosis, and selection of treatment tactics. An analysis was conducted of current clinical guidelines and scientific publications devoted to acute dental pain, odontogenic infections, inflammatory complications, bleeding, and medical emergencies in the dental office. The main risk factors, clinical signs of early complications, and the algorithm for initial patient assessment were examined. It was established that timely diagnosis of dental diseases, elimination of the source of infection, rational use of medications, and preparedness of medical personnel are the main components of preventing severe complications. Of particular importance is a differentiated approach to antibiotic use: in localized dental infections without systemic signs, dental intervention is of primary importance, whereas the presence of systemic involvement requires additional assessment of the need for antibacterial therapy. A comprehensive preventive approach reduces the likelihood of disease progression and increases the safety of dental care.
