Evaluation Of Intraoral 2-D Hybrid “V” Shaped Miniplate Versus Intraoral Conventional Miniplate in the Treatment of Mandibular Parasymphysis Fracture –A Observational Study
By Devesh Agiwal.
Abstract
Background
Mandibular parasymphysis fractures require stable fixation to restore anatomical alignment, occlusion, and mandibular function. Conventional miniplates are widely used; however, alternative plate designs may offer advantages in adaptation, stability, operative time, and cost. The present study evaluated the clinical and radiographic outcomes of a 2-D Hybrid “V”-shaped miniplate compared with a conventional miniplate for the management of mandibular parasymphysis fractures. Materials and Methods: This prospective comparative study included 20 adult patients aged 18–60 years with linear mandibular parasymphysis fractures who were treated under general anaesthesia. Patients were randomly allocated into two groups of 10 each. Group A was treated using a 2-D Hybrid “V”-shaped titanium miniplate, while Group B received a conventional titanium miniplate according to Champy’s principles. Clinical and radiographic assessments were performed postoperatively at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months. Fracture reduction, postoperative occlusion, fracture stability, and postoperative complications were evaluated.
