Abstract
This study was motivated by the Free Nutritious Meals (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) Program, which is one of the priority policies of the Prabowo–Gibran administration aimed at improving nutritional fulfillment and human resource development. The program has generated various responses among the public, including university students as a group with an interest in public policy issues. This study aims to identify and analyze the perceptions of Civic Education students at Universitas Negeri Padang toward the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program based on four dimensions: knowledge, opinions, evaluations, and attitudes. The study employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive method involving 81 Political Science students at Universitas Negeri Padang who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation studies, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of percentages. The results showed that students' overall perception of the MBG Program was categorized as negative, with an average score of 53.80%. The scores for each dimension were 11.52% for knowledge, 72.42% for opinions, 59.66% for evaluations, and 71.60% for attitudes, all of which were categorized as negative based on the research classification. These findings indicate that Civics students at Universitas Negeri Padang tend to have a less positive perception of the MBG Program based on the four dimensions examined. This study is expected to contribute to the development of public policy studies and provide input for evaluating the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program in Indonesia.
