Cardiac Troponin I and Hematocrit as Prognostic Biomarkers in Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Prospective Observational Study from a South Indian Tertiary Care Centre
By Kriti Ray.
Abstract
Background
Stroke is the second leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and 80–85% of strokes are ischemic. Cardiac troponin I and hematocrit have each been proposed as low-cost, widely available prognostic biomarkers in acute ischemic stroke, but their comparative value has rarely been studied in South Asian populations.
