Serum Interleukin-6 Levels in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients with and without Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
By H Santosh.
Abstract
Introduction
Neuropathy is a common complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), and chronic low-grade inflammation may contribute to its development. Interleukin-6 is an important inflammatory cytokine that may be associated with metabolic abnormalities and diabetic nerve damage. This study aimed to compare serum IL-6 levels in T2DM patients with and without neuropathy and to evaluate its association with selected clinical and biochemical parameters.
