Abstract
Frailty is a common yet unrecognized elderly syndrome that reflects an increased vulnerability to shocks due to the depletion of physiological reserves in multiple body systems. Although frailty has traditionally been associated with old age, recent studies have shown that middle-aged individuals can also suffer it, particularly if they have chronic illnesses. It has detrimental effects that include falls, hospitalization, disability, poor quality of life, and early mortality. The study employs the FRAIL index and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) to assess these conditions.
