By Friedrich Martin Wilhelm Kurz, Soffien Chadli Ajmi, Camilla Normand and 1 others.
Abstract
This Registered Report examines sex differences in anticoagulation, stroke characteristics, treatment and outcomes among adults with atrial fibrillation. The confirmatory cohort consists of patients with large vessel occlusion ischemic stroke treated with endovascular thrombectomy at Stavanger University Hospital (September 2009–December 2022). The primary confirmatory endpoint is 3-month functional outcome (modified Rankin Scale 0–2 versus 3–6) among patients with atrial fibrillation and large vessel occlusion treated with endovascular thrombectomy. Secondary confirmatory endpoints are admission NIHSS and mortality in hospital and at 3 months, 1 year, 2 years and 3 years. Norwegian Stroke Registry data will be used for exploratory analyses of generalisability in the broader AF ischemic-stroke population. The attached manuscript is the Stage 1 version accepted by Brain Communications, as confirmed by the research team. The project is supported by Stiftelsen Dam (SDAM_FOR701630) through Norsk Forening For Slagrammede.
