Determination of human low density lipoprotein apoproteins (APO LDL) by the Lowry procedure : standardisation and effect of sodium chloride
By P. van der Bijl and C.M. van Gent.
Abstract
Albumin produces more colour per unit weight than apo LDL, especially at higher protein values. This is consistent with the higher content of those amino acids, to which colour development is usually attributed, of albumin as compared to apo LDL. Precipitates were formed between the Folin reagent and sodium chloride. These precipitates were removed by centrifugation prior to absorbance measurements. Colour development was decreased by the presence of sodium chloride, especially at the higher protein values, for both albumin and apo LDL. The decrease was, however, more pronounced in the case of the latter protein.Chemicals/CAS: Apoproteins; Lipoproteins, LDL; Sodium Chloride, 7647-14-5
