By Alyssa Carlson, Harshasree Seelam, Aye Thida and 2 others.
Abstract
Acute thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare, life-threatening hematologic disorder. The spontaneous development of TTP following orthopedic surgery is an uncommon occurrence, with only five documented cases.Herein, we present a case of TTP that developed after a hemiarthroplasty of the hip.As TTP is an unexpected complication following orthopedic surgery, this case highlights the critical importance of early recognition and prompt treatment to significantly improve the likelihood of survival.
