Abstract
This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of health cadres in tuberculosis (TB) screening at the primary care level. The implementation method used a one-group pretest–posttest design involving 30 health cadres in Belo Village, Bima. The intervention was conducted through structured health education covering TB transmission, symptoms, prevention, screening, and referral, supported by a booklet and facilitated discussions. The results showed a significant improvement in cadres’ knowledge, with the proportion of good knowledge increasing from 16.6% to 86.7%, while poor knowledge decreased from 56.7% to 0%. The mean knowledge score also increased from 1.60 to 2.87. In addition, the program produced outputs including an educational booklet, dissemination activities, and an implementation video. In conclusion, community-based education is effective in enhancing the capacity of health cadres and has the potential to support early detection, referral, and prevention of TB in the community.
