Plantago ovata (Psyllium Husk) Ameliorates Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes in Rats via Modulating Oxidative Stress and the Expression of PPAR-γ, Nrf2, and TNF-α
By Sachin T Jose.
Abstract
Background
Plantago ovata (psyllium husk) has untapped potential and is emerging as a promising candidate for diabetes management. Yet, its bioactive properties and underlying mechanisms remain inadequately investigated.
Aim
This study aims to investigate the phytochemical profile, antioxidant capacity, safety, and antidiabetic potential of methanolic Plantago ovata husk extract compared to its crude fibre in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats.
