Abstract
Background
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one the most common cause of post-surgical infections in Malawi and poses a significant public health challenge due to resistance to commonly used antibiotics. We isolated and evaluated the stability and lytic activity of a MRSA-specific bacteriophage (Staphylophage) from Mzuzu Central hospital (MZCH) sewage against MRSA strains isolated from surgical wards.
