Abstract
Objective
To evaluate medications, potential drug interactions, and polypharmacy in patients who have had acute myocardial infarction, and to verify the association of polypharmacy with risk factors.
Methods
This was a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study conducted at the Institute of Cardiology of a High Complexity Hospital in Southern Brazil. Data were collected between May and December 2017. Patients admitted to the hospital with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction were included. The outcome variables were: Medication used to identify drug interactions and use of polypharmacy and risk factors for cardiovascular diseases such as smoking, alcoholism, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus (DM), systemic arterial hypertension (SAH), family history of cardiovascular disease (FH).
