By Ningthoujam Meiraba Meitei and Laishram Santosh Singh.
Abstract
Objectives
The present study aimed to investigate the impact of Resistance Training on selected motor abilities among Basketball players.
Method
Researchers randomly selected thirty male basketball players (aged 18 – 24 years) from Imphal East and Imphal West districts of Manipur (India). The subjects were randomly assigned to an experimental group, i.e. Resistance Training (RT) group (n = 15) and a Control group (n = 15). The groups were measured before the intervention with speed and explosive strength. The parameters selected for the study were the 20-meter dash test for speed and the vertical jump for explosive strength. The RT group underwent a 12-week bodyweight resistance training program, while the Control group continued with practice only. Pre- and post-test data were analyzed statistically using descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) at a significance level of p < 0.05.
