Abstract
Objective
Although interventions targeting eating self-efficacy are effective in treating obesity, Japan has lacked a useful and validated measure for assessing this construct. This study aimed to develop and validate the Japanese version of the Weight Efficacy Lifestyle Questionnaire (WEL).
Methods
Following the COSMIN Study Design checklist, the English WEL was translated into Japanese, and its comprehensibility was confirmed. To assess psychometric validity and reliability, 200 outpatients with obesity completed the translated WEL and other related measures twice. Descriptive statistics and analyses for reliability and validity were conducted.
