By Sonia Ortega‐Gómez, Ana Carbonell‐Baeza and David Jiménez‐Pavón.
Abstract
This YARN Milestone 12 (MS12) report presents a harmonised and adaptable framework for assessing health-related quality of life, physical fitness and lifestyle behaviours in young people living with and beyond cancer. It provides age-specific assessment frameworks for adolescents aged 14–17 years and young adults aged 18–39 years, combining online questionnaire-based assessment with in-person field-based physical fitness testing where feasible and appropriate. The protocol includes recommendations on participant burden, feasibility, safety, contraindications and adaptations, as well as data collection, scoring, interpretation and harmonisation procedures to support consistent implementation across YARN partner settings. Developed within WP6 Healthy Lifestyles and led by the University of Cádiz / MOVE-IT Research Group, the protocol is intended to provide a common methodological basis for assessment across the YARN network and to inform subsequent healthy lifestyle and exercise-related activities. This document is the final version 3.0, completed on 14 September 2026.
