Intra-Articular Injections in Hip Osteoarthritis According to Radiographic Severity (Grades I-IV): A Narrative Review
By Irakli Shelia.
Abstract
This narrative review evaluates the role of intra-articular injections in hip osteoarthritis according to radiographic severity (Grades I-IV). It discusses corticosteroid, hyaluronic acid, and emerging biologic injections, with particular attention to clinical effectiveness, patient selection, safety, and integration with rehabilitation. The review emphasizes that radiographic severity should not be used as the sole basis for treatment decisions and that injections provide symptomatic rather than cartilage-restoring treatment, particularly in advanced hip osteoarthritis.
