Abstract
A BSTRACT Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a rare disorder characterized by multifocal bile duct strictures and progressive liver disease. Celiac disease (CD), also known as gluten-sensitive enteropathy, is an autoimmune inflammatory condition triggered by an immune-mediated response to dietary gluten. The simultaneous occurrence of PSC and CD is rare. We report a case of a male patient in his fifth decade of life, who was a known case of PSC and presented with chronic diarrhea with features of malabsorption syndrome and was eventually diagnosed with CD. After initiation of a gluten-free diet, he had significant improvement in diarrhea with weight gain and a slight improvement in the PSC component, evidenced by improved liver biochemistry.
