Abstract
Abstract Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker widely used in the treatment of hypertension. Here, we describe four female patients, presenting with loose stools of varying duration, in whom a diagnosis of olmesartan-induced enteropathy was made. The duodenal biopsies in three patients showed complete villous atrophy with active inflammation and increase in eosinophils, while in one patient, there was only mild villous shortening and a marked increase in intraepithelial lymphocytes. The symptoms resolved on withdrawal of the drug. Awareness of this condition may lead to better diagnosis of the cause.
