Self-Selected Versus Assigned Emotion Regulation in Pain Expectancy: Behavioral and fNIRS Evidence
By Qinyi Qiao, Jiahao Du, Fanfu Fang and 1 others.
Abstract
Background
Expectation is a powerful cognitive modulator of pain, but how different types of emotion regulation approaches interact with expectancy to influence pain processing remains unclear. The present study compared self-selected habitual strategies (cognitive reappraisal or deep breathing) with an assigned non-habitual imagery-based strategy.
