Abstract
OBJECTIVE. To investigate the effectiveness of working solutions of disinfectants against resistant microorganisms and microflora of inpatient departments of healthcare facilities. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The material for the study was working solutions of fifteen commercial disinfectants of different compositions, bacterial cultures (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli) and microflora of inpatient departments of hospitals. The effectiveness was determined by the Oxford cups method on Mueller-Hinton medium. The study was conducted in duplicate. RESULTS. The bactericidal effectiveness of working solutions of disinfectants against the tested cultures of microorganisms was different. Thus, the effective working solutions Danaklin 3D and Green Line Basic were found to be effective, and the ineffective ones were Desactin and Lagocid 300. All other tested working solutions of disinfectants showed weak effectiveness. CONCLUSIONS. The results of our study indicate the importance of conducting such studies, since the effectiveness of the claimed working solutions may decrease over time. This fact is not associated with the development of resistance in microorganisms to disinfectants. It can be explained by the development of protective mechanisms in bacteria (for example, the formation of dry or wet biofilms), which create a certain barrier for the chemically active components of disinfectants. Therefore, we consider it necessary to recommend an increase in the concentration of disinfectants for effective disinfection in healthcare facilities.
