Abstract
Skin diseases in the elderly are among the most common health problems resulting from the aging process, which leads to a decline in skin function, such as reduced elasticity, moisture, and immune system function. This condition makes the elderly more vulnerable to various types of skin diseases, including allergic, infectious, degenerative, neoplastic and autoimmune conditions. This study aimed to provide an overview of skin diseases in elderly patients at the Dermatology and Venereology Outpatient clinic of RSPUR in 2022–2024 based on age, sex, and type of skin disease. This study used a descriptive method with a retrospective approach. The samples were selected using total sampling, consisting of 86 elderly patient cases that met the inclusion criteria. The results showed that based on age, the largest age group was 60–74 years comprising 77 patients (89.5%). Based on sex, male patients were more prevalent with 49 patients (57.0%) compared to 37 female patients (43.0%). Based on the type of skin disease, allergic skin diseases were the most common, accounting for 53 cases (61.6%). In conclusion, the overview of skin diseases in elderly patients at RSPUR showed that the patients were predominantly aged 60-74 years, male, and diagnosed with allergic skin diseases.
