Abstract
The batting drive shot ability of athletes from the UNP Faculty of Sports Science (FIK) Cricket Club is still relatively low, with bat swings tending to be weak and the ball not travelling far; this is thought to be influenced by their physical condition, particularly sub-optimal arm muscle strength. This study aims to determine the effect of resistance band training on the drive shot batting ability of athletes from the UNP Cricket Club. The research method is quantitative, employing a pre-experimental design (one-group pre-test–post-test design). Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, with a sample size of 8 participants. The intervention, consisting of resistance band training, was administered over 16 sessions. The research instrument used was a drive shot batting test. Data analysis was performed using the t-test. The results of the hypothesis testing using the t-test showed a calculated t-value of 8.974, which was greater than the critical t-value of 2.365 at a significance level of α = 0.05, with an average increase from 32.75 in the pre-test to 51.25 in the post-test, representing an increase of 18.5. It can therefore be concluded that there is a significant effect of resistance band training on the drive shot batting ability of athletes from the Padang State University Cricket Club.
