Abstract
Agility is a crucial physical fitness component that determines a futsal player's performance in adapting to game dynamics and rapid changes in movement direction. This study aimed to analyze the effect of an agility ladder-based training method on improving the agility of students participating in the futsal extracurricular program at SMPN 8 Banda Aceh. A quantitative approach was employed using a pre-experimental design (One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design). Twelve male students were selected as the study sample via purposive sampling. The intervention was conducted over four weeks with a frequency of four sessions per week, utilizing various ladder drills such as the Icky Shuffle, Double Side Jump, In-Out (Jumping Jack), Sideways, and Lateral Jump Lunge. Agility was measured using the Dodging Run Test. Data were analyzed descriptively, and the hypothesis was tested using a Paired Sample t-Test at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results showed an increase in the subjects' mean agility score from 15.17 ± 1.47 at the pretest to 20.00 ± 0.43 at the posttest, with a mean difference (D) of 4.83 points. Statistical analysis yielded a calculated t-value (12.52) greater than the t-table value (2.201) and a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05); consequently, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, and the working hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. The decrease in standard deviation indicates that the students' agility became more uniform and consistent. In conclusion, the agility ladder-based training method, incorporating multidirectional movement variations, proved to be significantly effective in improving the agility of futsal players.
