This study aimed to assess the levels of awareness and utilization of family planning methods among reproductive-age women in North Sinai, Egypt. Subjects and Method: design: A descriptive research design was conducted among a purposive sample of 320 women of reproductive age attending 11 primary healthcare centers across North Sinai Governorate. Data collection relied on three structured instruments: an interview schedule evaluating knowledge of family planning methods and services, a reported practice questionnaire tracking utilization patterns, and a standardized Attitude Scale measuring perspectives toward family planning.
The findings revealed that; over half of the women (58.1%) demonstrated a good level of reported practice, yet a near-equal majority (58.8%) possessed poor knowledge of family planning methods. the vast majority of the examined women (70.6%) exhibited a negative attitude regarding family planning methods and services, with a total mean score of 15.93 ± 3.70.
The study concluded that despite the acceptable level of family planning utilization among women in North Sinai, the high prevalence of poor knowledge and deeply entrenched negative attitudes present a substantial barrier to achieving the comprehensive reproductive health targets of Egypt Vision 2030 in North Sinai. Recommendations: Implement comprehensive educational and counseling programs to improve women’s knowledge regarding family planning methods and services. In addition, strengthen family planning counseling services within primary healthcare settings.
