By Bhagat U, Yang Q, Wu Y and 3 others.
Abstract
Abstract Background: Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) is a common complication in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). This study aims to evaluate the association between CDI and inpatient outcomes and healthcare utilization in IBD patients.
Methods
We utilized data from the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database from 2016 to 2021 to identify adult IBD inpatients (>18 years) with and without a diagnosis of CDI, using ICD-10 codes A04.7, K50, and K51. Primary outcomes were in-hospital all-cause mortality, rates and odds of colectomy, ICU admission, and healthcare utilization. The analysis was conducted using SAS survey procedures.
