Mapping the Quality of Life of Older Adults Living with Multiple Sclerosis: A Scoping Review
By Swasati Handique, Scott D. Ryan and Dr. Michael Bennett.
Abstract
For individuals aging with multiple sclerosis (MS), many of the symptoms that characterize MS in earlier adulthood persist into later life and often intensify over time. In older adults, these symptoms may be underrecognized or misattributed due to the presence of age-related comorbidities, which can mask MS-related symptoms. A scoping review was conducted between April and June 2026 in accordance with Arksey and O’Malley’s (2005) five-stage framework and the PRISMA checklist to identify gaps in the existing literature.
