Abstract
Objective
To examine the correlation between fall risk and level of functional dependence in elderly patients during the intermediate postoperative period.
Method
A quantitative, cross-sectional study conducted at a public hospital. Thirty elderly patients in the intermediate postoperative period were evaluated using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Morse Fall Scale and the Johns Hopkins Fall Risk Assessment Tool (JH-FRAT) to assess fall risk, and the Katz Index to measure functional dependence. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Spearman's correlation test, with a significance level of 5% adopted.
