Histological Comparison of Potential Healing Properties in the Human Glenoid and Acetabular Labrum
By Le Q. Hoang PhD, Sumaiya Rifat, Nathan Gray BS and 6 others.
Abstract
Background
Extracellular matrix (ECM) density, vascularity, and progenitor cell density correlate with healing in the meniscus and cartilage. These factors have yet to be thoroughly explored in the glenoid and acetabular labrum, whose healing prognoses vary by tear location. Hypothesis: Low ECM density, high vascularity, and high progenitor cell density may distinguish better healing labral tissue from its poorly healing counterpart. Study Design: Descriptive laboratory study.
