Transfemoral Liver Biopsy via Inferior Accessory Hepatic Vein: A Technical Note
By Ranjan Kumar Patel, Taraprasad Tripathy and Sudipta Mohakud.
Abstract
Abstract Transfemoral liver biopsy (TFLB), also known as transfemoral transcaval liver biopsy, has emerged as a safe and effective alternative to transjugular liver biopsy in patients requiring a transvenous approach. Successful TFLB depends on stable wedging of the stiffening cannula within the intrahepatic inferior vena cava, which can occasionally be technically challenging. Here, we describe three cases of TFLB performed through the right inferior accessory hepatic vein. The yield was diagnostic in all three without procedural complications.
