Abstract
Type IID Monteggia fracture-dislocation is a subtype of Bado Type II, defined by Jupiter et al. in 1991 as a complex ulna fracture extending from the olecranon to the diaphysis.1,3,4,8 Among the Bado Type II subtypes, the IID subtype is the most complex and surgically demanding.3 Despite advances in surgical techniques and improved understanding of the injury, postoperative outcomes of the IID subtype remain suboptimal compared with those of other subtypes.3,6 Recently, a coronoid-centric classification system (the Mayo classification) has been proposed for complex elbow fracture-dislocations in which the dorsal cortex of the ulna is fractured.
