Burnout among orthopedic surgeons in Türkiye: Prevalence, contributing factors, and the role of seniority
By Murat Gulcek and Hasan Emre Ozsoy.
Abstract
Introduction/objectives
This study aimed to determine the rate of burnout syndrome among orthopedists in Türkiye and to evaluate the effects of demographic characteristics on burnout syndrome.
Methods
A cross-sectional study was conducted in May 2025, involving 310 orthopedic surgeons in Türkiye, excluding residents. Burnout was assessed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory, which measures emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment. Data on demographic characteristics and workplace settings were also collected. Statistical analyses employed non-parametric tests because of the non-normal data distribution.
