By Sai Yang, Wei Shi, Fangfang Wu and 7 others.
Abstract
This dataset was generated from a retrospective multicenter case‑control study. It contains de‑identified clinical photographs, dermoscopic images, raw scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, and clinical information to investigate acquired hair texture alteration after hair regrowth in patients with alopecia areata (AA). The clinical photographs document longitudinal hair morphological changes across follow‑up time points (W0, W4, W12, W24, W52, Wn). Tabulated clinical information contains de‑identified demographic information, disease severity, and treatment regimens for all 29 cases and 145 control subjects. Clinical characteristics, treatment courses, and follow‑up outcomes of acquired hair texture alteration from our case series and five previously reported patients identified via literature review are also included. Data were retrospectively collected from medical records, standardized serial clinical photography, dermoscopy, and SEM examinations of hair specimens. All personally identifiable information has been fully removed to protect patient privacy.
