Large Obstructive Left Atrial Myxoma in an Adolescent Girl Presenting With Stroke
By Cyndee Jocson, Alexander Dahl and Stefanie Cheang.
Abstract
ABSTRACT Pediatric cardiac myxomas are rare but may present with embolic stroke and rapidly progress to life‐threatening hemodynamic obstruction. Ischemic stroke with a suspected embolic source in children should prompt echocardiographic evaluation. Early recognition and urgent surgical management are critical to prevent obstruction, embolization, and death.
