Abstract
ABSTRACT Rhino‐orbital mucormycosis can present aggressively in immunocompetent adults, often with atypical initial symptoms that lead to misdiagnosis and dangerous delays. A high index of suspicion is paramount when facing a rapidly progressive orbital infection unresponsive to conventional therapy. Survival hinges on a prompt, aggressive multimodal strategy: immediate histopathological confirmation (identifying broad, aseptate hyphae), radical surgical debridement, and early initiation of high‐dose liposomal amphotericin B.
