Abstract
Elbow synovectomy has traditionally been performed using direct visual observation. However, recent advancements in elbow arthroscopy have increased the popularity of arthroscopic synovectomies. This minimally invasive procedure has garnered attention because of its efficacy in halting joint deterioration while minimizing patient discomfort and invasiveness. Conversely, the technical demands of arthroscopic elbow synovectomy pose challenges, often resulting in notable complications, such as nerve damage. Considering the utility of real‐time nerve visualization for injury prevention, we suggest the integration of ultrasound guidance during surgery. Ultrasound has emerged as a pivotal tool for preventing nerve injuries, offering real‐time visualization of nerves alongside surgical instruments. Using ultrasound‐guided portals, surgeons can meticulously navigate the surgical field while safeguarding vital neural structures. Here, we describe an ultrasonography‐guided surgical method for creating the portals by confirming the surrounding anatomy.
