The registered nurse's role in vascular access device selection. The Intravenous Nurses Society
Abstract
The Intravenous Nurses Society (INS) contends that registered intravenous nurses as the ultimate end-users of vascular access devices are the most qualified individuals for the selection of these products. Although the physician is responsible for initiating orders, nurses are the most appropriate health care providers for determining the correct vascular access product to be used to deliver the ordered therapies.
