Classification and recommendations of the Mexican Group for the study of Psoriasis and Other Immune-Mediated Diseases (PSOMEX) for the diagnosis and treatment of generalized pustular psoriasis
Abstract
Generalized pustular psoriasis is a rare, clinically heterogeneous autoinflammatory disease associated with significant morbidity and mortality. There are still many questions and unmet needs regarding basic concepts of the disease, although advances in the knowledge of its pathophysiological and genetic bases are leading to a change in it's concept, classification and treatment. Likewise, these advances have allowed the development of effective treatments with good therapeutic responses. After an exhaustive review of the literature, and based on the clinical experience of the authors, the Mexican Group for the Study of Psoriasis and Immune-Mediated Diseases (PSOMEX) provides in this article current information on the classification, diagnosis, clinical approach and treatment of generalized pustular psoriasis, as well as some recommendations for its management.
La psoriasis pustulosa generalizada es una enfermedad autoinflamatoria rara, clínicamente heterogénea y que se asocia con morbilidad y mortalidad significativas. Siguen existiendo muchas dudas y necesidades no resueltas en torno a conceptos básicos de la enfermedad, aunque los avances en el conocimiento de sus bases fisiopatológicas y genéticas orientan hacia un cambio en el concepto, la clasificación y el tratamiento de la misma. Así mismo, estos avances han permitido el desarrollo de tratamientos eficaces con buenas respuestas terapéuticas. Tras una revisión exhaustiva de la literatura y basándose en la experiencia clínica de los autores, el Grupo Mexicano para el Estudio de la Psoriasis y Otras Enfermedades Inmunomediadas (PSOMEX) proporciona en este artículo información actual sobre la clasificación, el diagnóstico, el abordaje clínico y el tratamiento de la psoriasis pustulosa generalizada, así como algunas recomendaciones para su manejo.
