Resumen
The 2023 AmSECT Standards and Guidelines for Perfusion Practice outlines 19 mandatory standards and associated guidelines for adult cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Key topics include institutionally-based protocols, staffing, safety devices, patient monitoring, anticoagulation, blood flow and management, and crisis management.
Updated for 2022 and published in February 2023, these standards were developed by AmSECT based on clinical evidence and accepted practices. They serve to improve the reliability, safety, and effectiveness of extracorporeal support services, outlining minimum requirements and recommending frameworks for institutional protocols.
