Barriers and Facilitators in Help-Seeking Among Male Informal Caregivers of Individuals With Dementia: A Systematic Review
By Shin H, Ko E, Wright KD and 1 others.
Abstract
Objectives
Approximately 40% of informal caregivers of individuals with dementia are male. Male caregivers have often been described as task-oriented, yet they also face substantial caregiving demands. However, research on barriers to and facilitators of their help-seeking remains limited. Understanding these factors across multiple ecological levels is therefore important. This systematic review aimed to synthesize multilevel barriers to and facilitators of help-seeking among male informal caregivers of individuals with dementia. We also explored potential gender differences in help-seeking pathways.
